5D 4N OVERSEAS LEARNING EXPERIENCE (SELECTED P5 STUDENTS) TO HANOI, VIETNAM

Selected Primary Five students travelled to Hanoi to learn more about Vietnamese culture, history, and daily life through hands-on experiences. During the trip, they built teamwork and independence while exploring historical landmarks, tasting local food, and interacting with local communities. The journey also helped them develop confidence, friendships, and a deeper appreciation for different cultures.
Vạn Phúc Silk Village
The students visited Vạn Phúc Silk Village to learn about Vietnam’s traditional silk-making industry and cultural heritage. They observed how skilled artisans weave silk by hand, explored local shops, and discovered the importance of preserving traditional crafts. The visit helped students appreciate craftsmanship, history, and the value of supporting local communities and traditions.
Bat Trang Ceramic Village
The students visited Bát Tràng Ceramic Village to explore Vietnam’s famous pottery-making traditions and learn about local craftsmanship. They watched artisans shape and decorate ceramics, discovered the history of the village, and experienced hands-on pottery activities. The visit encouraged creativity, cultural appreciation, and a better understanding of Vietnam’s rich artistic heritage.
Hong Ngoc or Dai Viet Fine Art. (Vietnamese Egg Shell Lacquerware Gallery)
The students visited Hong Ngoc Fine Art and Dai Viet Fine Art to learn about Vietnamese eggshell lacquerware, a unique traditional art form. They observed intricate techniques used by artists, explored detailed artworks, and discovered the cultural significance behind lacquer painting. The visit inspired creativity and deepened their appreciation for Vietnam’s artistic heritage and craftsmanship.
BAN MAI SCHOOL
The students visited Ban Mai School to interact with local students and experience school life in Vietnam. Through cultural exchange activities, games, and group discussions, they built friendships and learned about different educational practices. The visit encouraged communication, teamwork, and mutual understanding while helping students appreciate cultural diversity and global connections.
VIETNAM-AUSTRALIA SCHOOL (VAS)
The students visited Vietnam-Australia School (Hanoi) to engage with local students and learn about education in Vietnam. Through interactive activities, cultural exchanges, and collaborative learning experiences, they developed communication and teamwork skills. The visit also helped students build friendships, gain global awareness, and appreciate similarities and differences between schools in Singapore and Vietnam.
SIGHT-SEEING (CULTURAL)
The students took part in cultural sightseeing around Hanoi to explore Vietnam’s rich history, traditions, and famous landmarks. By visiting historical sites, local markets, and cultural attractions, they gained a deeper understanding of Vietnamese heritage and daily life. The experience broadened their perspectives, encouraged curiosity, and strengthened their appreciation for different cultures and communities.
FOOD
The students experienced Vietnamese food culture in Hanoi by tasting traditional dishes and learning about local dining customs. Through trying different foods, they discovered unique flavours, ingredients, and cooking styles that reflect Vietnam’s rich heritage. The experience encouraged openness to new experiences and helped students appreciate cultural diversity through food and shared meals.
